Include getting in pjs and reading a bedtime story to help your child transition from playtime to sleep time. Bedtime RoutineĪ bedtime routine is valuable for preschoolers just as it is for babies. Keep your meals each day as consistent as possible. I encourage you to eat as a family as much as possible. Some do not have an afternoon snack because they have an early dinner and a snack would disrupt that. You may or may not have a snack time between rest time and dinner time. It is okay if your preschooler needs a nap. Some take a nap each day and others just a few days a week. Some children at this age do still need naptime. Your child can look at books or simply rest. This si time spent quietly in bed or in another location (like the couch) where your child sits still and is quiet. Rest TimeĪfter lunch, you will want some sort of rest time. Some people like screen time before lunch and others prefer it to be after nap or rest time. You can allow some time each day for your child to watch a show or play on the iPad. Some families do not do any technology while others use it every day. At this age, this time is often referred to as Roomtime. There are many benefits to independent playtime. You might have your child get ready for the day before breakfast or after breakfast. Keep your meals each day as consistent as possible as far as what time of day you do each meal. Shortly after waking up for the day, your child will need breakfast. This really helps maintain a consistent and solid sleep schedule. Just as your child has had up to this point, you want the morning wake up time to be consistent from day to day.
